A Day of Gardening

Today a group of 10 medical students from the University of Minnesota volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in North Minneapolis. Under the direction of a number of Master Gardeners, we landscaped 2 recently built Habitat Homes. We learned a lot about gardening, got to know the families moving into the homes, and spent a wonderful Saturday morning making the community a tiny bit more beautiful. In a world that is increasingly more digitally connected, but somewhat more personally disconnected, it was nice to do some manual labor with new friends. Days like today, volunteering to help a neighbor builds community, brings people together, and makes us more human. Photos below!
